Hello, Everyone
could I ask a question about PIP?
could I ask a question about PIP?
My son aged 16 just transferred to pip from DLA. He has Autism. He used to receive high rate care, low rate mobility.
I filled out his PIP form and he was awarded enhanced for both components.
I filled out his PIP form and he was awarded enhanced for both components.
He scored 23 points for daily living and 12 under mobility. The form said he got 12 points because a familiar journey could not be undertaken without assistance from another person or aid. He got no other mobility points.
My question is would he be entitled to apply for a motabilty car? I am his appointee. I know he can’t a blue badge without an assessment with only scoring points on that particular descriptor but I am not sure if that rules out applying for a motabilty vehicle.
Thank you.

Enhanced mobility will qualify him for the mobility vehicle regardless of where the points were awarded. You must also have at least 12 months remaining on the award. Yes, you will be able to order a vehicle on his behalf.Just so that you're aware, once the car has been collected your son will no longer receive payment for the mobility part, it will be paid to motability for the car.You can see the cars available on the link i provided above. It will also have details of any advance payment that will need to be paid before you collect the car. Do be aware though that a lot of cars have a waiting list at the moment because of the pendemic.

Thank you for your reply. I will read the link you posted. I’m not thinking of getting a car yet. Maybe sometime in the next year or so. He only just received his reward and it runs out in 2029.
Thank you. This is a very interesting forum and I will post on the newcomers board.
thanks again for your help.0
