Hi my name is Janis [removed by moderator - full name] just turned 74, I am on High Rate indefinite DLA, I was told over 10 years ago I was eligible for high rate care component, but I am still on middle rate, I did have a lady from age concern tell me I would get it as the amount of medical problems then were getting worse, all what I suffer has not got any better, its debilitating I won't get any better, I have problems with my spine neck & lower lumber of which I have not long ago had a lower lumber procedure which doesn't seem to have worked with my spine and I am suffering pain spasms, contstant, I have ostio arthritis in all joints, I can't stand for long periods, sit or lay down, I have diverticulitis, which also causes pain, Isuffer high blood pressure, anemia, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, I am on abixaban for life because I have suffered three DVT's in my right leg, & one in my right leg,I have also had left knee replacement which is no better also awaiting right knee replacement, I also suffer Gaulbladder problems, Asophagitas, and Hiatus Hernia, I have also been given a card to carry that I cannot have anymore antibiotics as it the last prescription that was prescribed for me was 500 milligrams 3 x a day which has killed off my Immune system which has now made me a C-Dif carrier, I suffer ciatica, and also prone to getting sellulitas, I also suffer chest infections, bronchitis! & lung, Phnemonia & breathing difficulties really if I go on with all my illnesses, memory problems,I just need help with what I am entitled to, I am not going to get any better, I have had times where I Litterely go dizzy an pass out I cannot walk without my stick or the aid of my Granddaughter or my Son, I was told about Attendance Allowance but I've no idea
What that is or if I am..I would be very grateful if you could help, as I did get intouch with a body of people called hope I filled in a form signed for them to help but heard nothing back

Hi,To qualify for high rate care DLA you must need constant help either during the day or night. I'm assuming you're already claiming high rate mobility so you can't be awarded anything higher than this.You can report a change of circumstances but before doing this you must be sure you'll qualify for high rate care.Attendance Allowance doesn't apply to you because you're already claiming DLA and you can't claim both.Before doing anything else you should get some expert advice from an agency near you.
