Is it normal for them to want to speak with me "urgently" to verify housing costs?

happydays12

Hi I’m so worried as I’ve had a UC message in my journal telling me I need a phone app tomorrow to verify my housing costs and they mentioned my previous address. I’ve lived here for 6 months and on UC for a few years. I’m chronically ill so can only work part time. My question is is it normal to want to speak with me “urgently” to verify housing costs 6 months down the line of moving house? So stressed about this- my anxiety through the roof! Any help would be appreciated, Thankyou in advance.

Hi @happydays welcome to our great group.
I think a lot of the members are having a Siesta due to the heat.
I am sure some one in the know will be able to answer you question, when they wake up ha ha.

In the mean time, if your ready have a look around the site, you never know you might even find the answer your looking for.

Hi and welcome to the community

I can't imagine it is anything to worry about

Did you inform them of change of address and change of housing costs

Do you live in private rented or social housing

It will say urgent as it will affect your uc payments I'd the info isn't correct

We can only guess the reason they want to speak to you only they know

happydays12

Hi there, thanks both. Yes I informed them as I had to put a joint claim I’m when I moved into my new home, we had to leave previous private rental due to my landlord putting the house up for sale. It is privately rented and I changed the claim 6 months ago, I’m waiting for a health interview as my health has declined but it’s been months and months! To me that’s urgent but I’ve heard nothing! Just worried as it’s months after my claim!... my anxiety is high at the best of times! I’m not great in the phone!

Thankyou.

Have you recently been awarded pip ?

Have you checked yog are getting the correct housing element payment you can check the amount by looking at the lha for your are and compare to the amount you are getting

happydays12

I was awarded pip a while back, they’ve asked me to have my rental contract to hand and a utility bill- not sure how that can confirm anything over the phone though? I asked them to explain a little more as I am worried about it- heard nothing back. Thanks so much for your help. x

Hope all goes well today @happydays12

happydays12

Thankyou, the support you’ve shown is truly touching.

Biblioklept- I thought I’d forwarded a copy on the computer when I changed my address, the message on my journal states something about pertaining to the time at my old address and verifying my private rent etc etc. Like many with anxiety and and chronic illness, it just adds stress! Thanks again all.

SueHeath

Bless you @happydays12 it all sounds straight forward in my brain, so please try to be calm, i know thats easier said then done, i'm sure all will be well.

poppy123456

Sorry, i didn't see the tag until now. It sounds like they're just asking for confirmation of when you moved into the new house.

happydays12

I’d already done this when i changed it over- very confusing. Thankyou poppy123456.

Tori_Scope
