Tribunal Advice. Would having private care work against me?

Hi everyone
Hope you are well! I’m very exhausted with this PIP process, but trying to remain hopeful. Waiting to receive ‘the bundle’ from DWP. I thought PIP was based on how my conditions affect my daily life. In the assessment report, I was really criticised for self-funding some of my care. But ADHD wait lists are up to 4 years and the current wait for eating disorder services is 10 months! I also don’t like the fact that DWP assumes treatment for every condition. With an eating disorder, I only have to go to a yearly check-up and the doc said it’s my choice to get treatment or not.

Thank you so much!

You need to put the assessment report away and forget about it because that isn’t going to get you a PIP award. A lot of the reasons for not scoring points are copy and paste reasons. You need to concentrate on the weaknesses in your evidence. If you have already does this then add a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies to you. Include detailed information such as where you where, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. It’s also never too late to get representation from an advice agency near you.
