Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. I have been on PIP about a year but due to a new health condition i had another assessment and have found out i will probably be awarded higher PIP due to the report i got back. Will i be backdated for this? I was still receiving my normal payments while i was waiting on my assessment to take place.

Also my next payment date is just over two weeks away, am i likely just to get the new payment then?

Sorry if this is confusing, this is my first post and also wasn't sure how to explain properly what im trying to ask so i hope it makes sense.

Thanks all

If the review was a regular review by DWP then a change in the award is not backdated. If the review was as a result of you reporting a change in your health then any increase should be backdated to when you reported the change.

Good morning @likelyless96 and welcome to the online community.

Following your assessment the assessor will make recommendations to the DWP decision maker as to whether you should be awarded PIP.  The DWP decison maker normally follows these recommendations but not always.  I'm afraid that you may have a bit of a wait to receive any "upgrade" in your award and any back pay if there is anything due.  You may receive a text from the DWP but not always and quite often the first thing people know is when they receive a payment from the DWP into their bank account.

It is a frustrating wait and I do hope that you will hear very soon. Thank you so much for posting on the forum and do have a look at the rest of the forum.
