Welcome to the community @frann84ie
Thank you for joining us. How are you doing today?
I can imagine that recovery is long and difficult at times. How have you been finding it?
I haven't had a stroke myself, but I did used to do some work with stroke survivors. We ran some activity sessions, like Tai Chi and chair yoga, to help people stay active. Have you tried anything like that?2 -
@Tori_Scope I have been trying to rehab myself. I live in a very rural state now and there's not much neuro rehab available. I had fantastic rehab where I used to live. My left side is paralyzed. I can walk with a cane and some without a cane. My left arm doesn't really work and I struggle with my left hand. It often is tightly fisted, very painful.0

Hi @frann84ie welcome to the forum. You will find it a supportive group. Always someone to natter too.
Sorry to read about your stroke. Its a shame you havnt got access to any rehab near you. Where I live there is a great stroke team in the Borough. What kind of things are you doing to self rehab?1 -
@Sandy_123 I practice walking. I do as many adls(activities of daily living) a day as I can, such as scooping the cat litter, cleaning the house, cooking. I do some exercises to keep my legs strong. And I use an estim for my arm and hand. I have become pretty good at cooking one handed.
Thank you for asking.1 -
It sounds like your doing really good with managing to do these tasks. It's about finding different ways to do things, that make it easier for you. There are some members here who have had strokes too who may reply. But do join in with the conversations.1

@Teddybear12 thank you for responding. I'm still receiving care for the stroke but not the disabilities. I also have a rare disease that caused the stroke and none of my doctors have even heard of it. The only treatment I receive for it is blood thinners, very basic.0
