The Enhanced disability premium is only paid when claiming Income Related ESA and it's automatically paid if you're in the Support Group. It has nothing to do with any PIP claim. If you're in the WRAG the Enhanced disability Premium is only payable if you're receiving either Enhanced daily living PIP or High rate care DLA. You would lose this if you lost your DLA or PIP award. The Disability premium (£36.20 single person) is not paid at all when claiming ESA. It is only paid when claiming either Income Related JSA or Income Support. The SDP is only payable if you're classed as living alone or those you live with are either registered blind or they also claim a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or AA.
TheOne1 said: so if my brother were to get pip for his conditions he would get severe disability premium because he is living with his mum who is on a qualifying benefit,
TheOne1 said: when he gets re assessed for pip and if loses his entitlement to pip will his ESA stop because the severe disability premium has stoped or will his ESA just get reduced back to The Enhanced disability premium.
"No, only the SDP will end because there will be no PIP award. The ESA amount will be what it is now"This is what I am confused about. The ESA amount includes the enhanced disability premium by default so if my brother loses his pip entitlement he will lose his severe Disability premium and his enhanced Disability premium so his ESA will be reduced? Or will his ESA just back to the defaulted amount which includes the enhanced Disability premium? Thank u so much for Ur help

poppy123456 said: Suspended yes because of the loss of the SDP, which can just suspend the claim. Suspended is completely different to "claiming ending." He will not lose all the ESA and the ESA just be unsuspended and the ESA will continue, which will include the EDP. I really don't know how else to explain, other than what i've already advised. Am not trying to be rude here, but u never mentioned this before I had to dig this information out which is why I said at the start I have different information here, so his ESA could be suspended so can you please define "suspended"you said: "I really don't know how else to explain, other than what i've already advised"Well u never allready advised the section about a ESA being suspended? I had to ask u.

Have you rang DWP regarding your ESA"Can this apply to my brother? I know he doesn't live alone but, if he gets severe disability premium because he lives with his mum on a qualifying benefit and he gets re assessed and he loses his pip entitlement the above comment could that apply to my brother?

The ESA can be suspended temporarily while ESA reassess the amount due to be paid because they need a fixed point from which to calculate future payments and work out what arrears may be due.Does your mother claim Pension Credit?Yes, thank u for your reply, she is getting pension credit, is there anything that I need to aware of regarding this? So suspended by definition according to you means if his pip stops then DWP will temporary not pay him anything until their figure out what he is entitled to or was getting before?

If suspended it's for shorted period while the SDP is removed. Payments may not even stop, if someone from DWP notices the suspension before a payment is due. If your mum already claims pension credit and no one claims either carers allowance or carers element of Universal Credit for looking after her then her pension credit can include the SDP but she will need to claim it....if your brother is evetually awarded daily living PIP.

Thanks poppy - that's the reason I asked.OP, if your brother manages to claim Daily Living PIP there is therefore a potential big rise in both his income and mum's income (If nobody is getting Carer's Allowance or carer element of UC for looking after her). This is based on my understanding that it is just the two of them living together.
