So its been 19 weeks now since i first applied, they sent me a text 27th July saying my report had been received and they would be in touch, since then nothing. I have spent hours on hold trying to get through but after 2 hours the phone cuts off and i have to start again, today after 1 hour and 35 mins i finally managed to talk to someone, imagine my excitement !! He was very surprised that i hadnt heard back as he said its supposed to be 4 weeks max after they receive the report. He is going to get it fast tracked forward so that a decision can be made. Whilst on the phone i also got him to send me a copy of the report so that i can judge if things have gone my way or not. Takes about a week im told to receive this so hopefully things are finally moving forward. It seems to be taking a long time to get a decision as they have a huge backlog to get through but you would think it would flag up the old ones to someone somewhere so that it could get sorted. The stress this must cause some people must be really bad.

That is not quite correct. Once the report is returned to DWP a decision can take between 2-12 weeks, sometimes longer. Remember, when ringing PIP you are speaking to someone from a call centre, who have very little knowledge in benefits and the timescales.
