My daughter just applied for Carers allowance I receive PIP my award was only granted back in September but awarded from January as it had to be backdated I’m now thinking how long it will take for the carers allowance to be agreed or granted and what they backdate it to my date of January 2022

Carers Allowance backdate 3 months even if you was awarded back to January. The Carer’s Element of Universal Credit is different and may backdate to January providing a UC claim was in payment then.
The CA waiting time is up to 12 weeks but I know many who have waited significantly longer.0 -
That’s not correct. I think you may have misunderstood the question. The PIP was awarded in September and the claim was started in January. This means it can be backdated to the start of the PIP award (if entitled) because the carers allowance claim was started within 3 months of the PIP decision being made.bg844 said:Carers Allowance backdate 3 months even if you was awarded back to January.

To be entitled to Carers allowance she must make sure she doesn't earn anymore than £132 per week, after deductions. Anymore than this and she won't be entitled to CA for the weeks she earns more than this. If she's started working she must ring carers allowance to report this. https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/eligibility
