Hi can anyone help me please. Both me and my husband have been awarded lcwra in the past 2 weeks, i understand that it will only be paid to one of us, but my husband was claiming carer element for me, as my husband was awarded lcwra first, can we ask for it to be awarded to me so he can continue claiming carer element? Thank you.

As your husband is already claiming carers element then the LCWRA will be added to your claim for you. There’s a full 3 month assessment period waiting time for the LCWRA and it’s then paid from the 4th month after the health condition was reported.1

I’ve looked into it and it said one would claim either, but when I asked in my journal they said we’re not entitled to it. When I went on entitled to it states one can have the lcwra and the other can carers. I’ll have to ring up and ask again. Thank you.0
