Hey, it’s my first time posting here and I’m just really anxious.

I applied for pip last May (2021) and I didn’t get my phone assessment until August this year (2022).
On the 30th Aug 22, I got a text from DWP saying they had everything they needed and I’d hear within 8 weeks.

it’s coming up for 12 weeks on Tuesday and I’ve still not heard anything back. No texts/letters- is this normal?
I cannot talk on the phone so rely on my mum and don’t want to ask her to call up and find out if it’s just normal to wait so long!

im claiming for my anxiety etc- and it’s taken everything to actually put in the claim in the first instance, this waiting is really affecting me with not knowing and then overthinking.

is it bad news if it’s taking so long? I purposefully havent requested the report but wonder if I should ask my mum to call up and request it in the mean time just to prepare myself a little bit.

Sorry I’m rambling, I’m just nervous and overthinking it all!

Timescales once the report is returned is 2-12 weeks sometimes longer. It doesn't mean anything at all at this stage other than a decision hasn't been made.
It's entirely your decision whether you request the report but it does tend to cause more anxiety than is really needed.

Welcome to the community @shineon20217 :) Thank you for joining us! It's great to have you on board.

As poppy123456 has said, the waiting time doesn't indicate whether or not your claim will be successful. I know it can be a really anxious and stressful wait. You're certainly not the only one in this boat! I know that won't take the worry away, but I hope that being on the community, and hearing from other's in a similar position, will help you to feel less alone.

How did you find the telephone assessment?
