So, the care assessment itself is free but what financial support you'll receive and the value you'll be expected to contribute will depend upon the findings and your local council so it's tough to say right now. It might be worth having the assessment initially so you'll have a better understanding of their suggestions. The assessor might be able to give you an idea of the financial side too.
