Hi @MeganBear - Welcome from me too, & thank you for joining. It's good to 'meet' you too. Your puppy looks adorable & it's great that he/she will become your assistance dog. I have a little kitten called Shadow, & get to 'borrow' my son's Bedlington terrier a few days a week. The only trouble is he just wants to get too close to my kitten, & she remains unimpressed!
What sort of rabbits do you have? When my children were young, we had a lovely Dwarf lop eared rabbit

    Hi!
Aww that’s so cute, both my bunnies are free roaming, one in the living room and one in the bedroom so my puppy is always around my boy and he just wants to play with him! But we’re working on stay and lay down and leave so he’s getting good with him.

My boy is a Tort Black Lionhead and my girl is a Black Otter Mini Lop! X

Hiya @MeganBear. I'm glad you found us! How are you getting on?
Free-roaming bunnies always sound fantastic. How long have you had them?

My youngest daughter's been desperate for a house-bunny for years, but I think I'd always worry about stepping on them. It's bad enough with a toddler lurking about! I'm not sure we'd be able to have them anyway as we recently had to give up our guinea pigs because of allergies. Do they need much in the way of housetraining?

Hi @MeganBear and welcome to the Community.  It is nice to meet you and thank you for sharing with us.  What a beautiful puppy!  It must be fun training him, but hard work too.  One of my friends used to have a couple of house rabbits and it was great watching them run around like mad!  I hope you enjoy your time with us.  Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with.  All the best.

They’re  very expensive, you have to bunny proof everything and I mean everything! They don’t tend to get in your way like you’d think actually, I thought I’d step on him but he stays out of my way, my female is a bit different as she’s deaf so can’t hear where you are but regular rabbits don’t get in your way :)
Vet bills are more expensive than dogs and cats because they’re more specialist and are classed as exotic animals so need special treatment but there are ways around vets bills like getting a pet health club, and insurance.
If you’re free roaming then yes they do need litter training, it’s just like training a cat. Keep putting them in the tray and putting their hay in the tray, and they’ll get it eventually. Poos are hit and miss though, some rabbits become poop litter trained and others just wee and poo in the box when they’re in it but poo everywhere else haha. So you gotta be making sure you’re following them around with a hoover aha.
But rabbits are very easy to look after in the sense that they’re very cuddly but they’re happy to be independent and alone while you’re at work :) basically a cross between a dog and a cat, they have the independence of a cat and the cuddliness of a dog but without the walks!

I mean you can walk them? If you’re prepared to get some funny looks and if the bunny is used to it haha.
I took my bunny to a store in the village once. I was in there for an hour and a half with people letting him and talking to me ?

Also, if your family is allergic to rabbits and you want one, I would suggest going for a mini Rex :) they’re hypoallergenic and they’re rated the least likely animal and rabbit breed to cause allergies. My friend is allergic to most animals and she has a mini Rex and has no problems ?

I'm almost 100% certain my daughter would insist on taking them for walks if we got a bunny! I can already picture her trying to pick out a lead and all sorts! :D
I imagine bunny proofing isn't easy, looking around I can see a lot of potential hazards and I imagine there's hundreds I haven't even thought of. They do sound like a pretty ideal pet though. No walks (hopefully!) but still all the cuddles.

Being classed as an exotic animal does seem strange though, I'd never considered that!

Thank you for the information about the mini Rex, I haven't heard of them before and it will definitely be something to keep in mind.

Hope you're doing well today? :)
