Hi @ajc457 - welcome to this community, & thank you for joining, Dom. We are a friendly & supportive group, which I hope you enjoy being part of. Why don't you come & try our virtual 'Coffee lounge', where we have many discussions, & there are also some word games you might fancy trying. It's a good place to meet some of our other members, tho of course you are welcome to chat here any time too.

Welcome to the community @ajc457
Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself? I look forward to seeing you around. -
Hi Tori
I'm Dom, 48 years old. I suffer from mixed anxiety and depression. Waiting for trauma therapy. -
Thanks for sharing @ajc457 It's great that you're on the list for therapy! Do you know how long you might have to wait?
-
Due to the Covid I have been told three years for one to one counselling. However, I don't mind waiting because it allows me time to mentally prepare myself. I have been referred many times since 2017 and ran a mile. I was referred a few months ago and assessed for the first time. This is as far as I have been able to reach since 2017.
-
Blimey, that seems like a long wait @ajc457, but I'm glad you're seeing the positive side of it. Are they not able to offer 'teletherapy', i.e. over video call or phone call? It's fine if you don't mind the wait though of course! It's good to try and go into therapy with an idea of what you're struggling with, and what your goals are, if you can.
That's a really great achievement It can certainly be extremely difficult to go through the process, but I reckon it'll be well worth it.
-
The services local to me are not able to provide the therapy because they say it is too complex for them to deal with and they only offer short-term therapy, where as I need long-term treatment.
-
Ahh I see @ajc457. That's a shame, but it's certainly something to look forward to. How have you been coping recently?
-
I am struggling at the moment, been very low and my anxiety is very high.
-
Can you not have over the phone counciling thats what they been doing here where I live ?
-
No they have said it needs to be face to face on a one to one basis which I would prefere
-
Welcome to the forums. I’m sure you will find it a great resource.
-
I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling recently @ajc457. Is there anything you've done before that's lifted your mood or made you feel less anxious?
Have you ever considered medication as an option? Of course it's not for everyone, but some people find that it really helps them to function better day-to-day. -
Hi Dom my name is Masuma and how are you feeling today.
