A newbie, Good Morning everyone

Hi I’m Lisa and new to the coffee lounge.
I am off work for 3 months (half way through) after major surgery to my foot, which is plated and screwed for a second time. I’m finding things tough as pretty much housebound as unable to weight bare for 12 weeks in total, then need a scan and X-rays to make sure it has healed this time.

My friend died a couple of weeks ago, and his funeral was yesterday.
I don’t have any real friends or close family, just mum who I live with, who can be difficult to get on with.
I am feeling lost, useless and hopeless and alone.
I also have a multitude of other medical problems and disabilities.

Hi @lisa86 welcome to the forum. Sounds like your going through it at the moment. As your half way through it with your foot, why not spend next half nattering to us. Plenty topics to join in with and might keep you occupied. Sorry to read about the loss of your freind. You say your feeling lost and hopeless at the moment, once your foot is healed you'll be able to do things you used to before.

my GP isn’t supporting me, you’re lucky if you get an appointment when your on deaths door, let alone grief.
I will somehow just have to get through it. I have a dog who is close to me, I will just keep telling myself he is there for me and needs me also.

Thank you for making your opening post and telling us a bit about what you are going through. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, that must be a really difficult thing to have to deal with alongside everything else.

I appreciate what you say above about your GP not supporting you, and it's a shame, but if you do feel as though you need support at this time to manage your mental health I would encourage you to try and make an appointment with them. You could also refer yourself to a different GP if you feel as though your current one isn't helping you as they should.

What makes you say that your mum can be difficult to deal with? Have you spoken with her about how you feel?

Samaritans are a fantastic resource and I'm glad to see that teddybear12 has provided their details

They're certainly worth keeping in mind if you ever fancy a chat with somebody. Additionally, our helpline is there too if you want to speak with any of our friendly advisers. Of course, you're more than welcome to keep taking part in the community too, we are a lovely bunch and I'm sure you'll find plenty to get involved with. I’m hopeful that you’ll find it to be a positive outlet. Feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to things:

my relationship with
my mum has always been difficult especially as she is pretty uncommunicative most of the time, and is old fashioned, stoic and doesn’t deal emotions, that’s how she was brought up.
I will have a look round the website again tomorrow

I have recently finished a course of mental health support with pennine healthcare which is part of healthy minds I think. It just ended at the worst possible time when I have so much to deal with.
