Do you mean council tax? If so then all local Authorities have their own rules. They usually use your UC statement to work out a council tax reduction award notice. Some members have had their council tax payments increased after being found to have LCWRA.

My daughter is a full time student who lives with me and is classed as a non dependant I have had my housing benefit cut due to this the question is are full time students who aren't working excempt from paying housing benefit?

I note that you're claiming LCWRA which is part of Universal Credit. This means you will only be claiming housing benefit if you're either living in temporary or supported housing. If not then your rent will be covered in UC known as housing element. Housing benefit is completely different, with different rules.

For UC purposes students are treated as non dependants, which is different to housing benefit unless she's under 21, or she's claiming either PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or ADP daily living. if she is then there will be no deductions. There will also be no non dependant deductions if you're claiming either PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or ADP daily living.

If none of those apply then there will be a deduction of £85.73/month.

Hello at @poppy123456. How did you get to £85.73 per month? Just asking as that's what I am now paying and have questioned this with my Council. Just interested. Thank you
