thank you all it’s interesting to see all the different perspectives on this and people’s stances on the government’s of past and present. Let’s hope though that the petition does get the government to reflect on some of these unfavourable decisions and maybe even change one or two. (We are still able to dream).

    BE WARNED!

This current 'ilk' of a government has hit very hard at the pensioners, then it was the unemployed, and next its going to be the disabled…Whilst their aim is going to be more focused at low-level to medium conditions/claims for top-tier claim may see money shaved off Pip…I personally dont see petitions calling for a new GE any good because we had one a few years ago and it had 2.5M signatories and the gov didnt batter an eye…

I really dont like to state the obvious on such a great site with amazing people but for those who support all these arriving illegally and costing the tax payer £8m per day (£225M per month), maybe now its hitting home and you, yourself are being affected, you may understand why so many who are on low incomes are against these drastic cuts when there is much more relevance and a need to stop supporting outright [language removed by moderator - uncivil] and even if we have to come out of the HR law we should to save many deaths and poverty of our people.

I should state I am totaly "On the fence" with politics, and see good points from both the reds and blues but now we need a genuine and colossal change.

Not a great fan of this Government so far, 4 months or so but they were elected and that’s it.
I remember when the petition to revoke article 50, leaving the EU (Brexit) reached 6.2 million and many of the people organising this petition said the people have spoken so suck it up. Perhaps they should take their own advice.

Winter fuel allowance should have been tapered, the farmers are actually getting a good deal, still paying half of what everyone else pays.

it will be interesting to see how the discussion goes when they start on the benefit system as they say thousands need to be getting back to work.

You think the Conservatives are going to be kinder to disabled people? Do you remember what Conservatives said they’d do to disabled people, it was their idea to swap benefits for a catalogue system? Becareful what you ask for.

Catalogues, vouchers and a receipt system. The Tories hate disabled people. No way should the Tories get back in!

I won't sign. Just because of the fact the alternatives for the disabled are much worse, in Reform and the Tories

They saying “Only fools and millionaires vote Tory” will always be true.

interesting Ralph, what do they say about those that voted Labour this time round.

Although I’m not advocating for any party but the people’s party, freedom to protest when you are not happy with the Government of the day, regardless of their political persuasion.

kaliwax I think you are going to be very shocked with what Labour has installed for the benefit system.

You think Reform and Tories are nice?

Labour is perhaps the best out of the 3. Reform will scrap all welfare most likely, and Tories will bring back the voucher scheme and whatever plans Stride have had, which was evil.

Only had this government for a few months, Tories made a mess for 14 years

The only thing this you want from this petition is for Labour to realise they messed up in some ways and perhaps reverse some of the decisions they made.

kaliwax I don’t think any of the party’s has are interest at heart of their policies presently they just want to cut the great deficit the disabled and chronically sick are causing on the the purse.

Ironsides 1990, have you been listening to the plans that Labour has for the benefit system. I’m not advocating that any of the other party’s are any better because under any of them we are going to suffer as always. I’m sorry to be pessimistic but the reality is the country cannot take the current strain on finances of the benefit system and something has to give. Reform of the benefit system is on its way and there will be no stopping it as they have a majority. The reform will not have our interests but that of the country’s purse.

I don't think they'll bring back the vouchers. Especially since there was a backlash from charities.

i think one of the things they'll do, is change the criteria for new claimants. I think it's best to carry on as normal and see how things pan out over the next few months.

Ironsides 1990 not sure what there’ll do but don’t forget there was a big backlash by all the charities in regards too the winter fuel payments being cut and Labour ignored them. Alas I feel we are in for a bumpy ride.

We need to be really careful about doing this. This petition was set up by MPs and their associates on the right: Reform + Tories + backed by people like Elon Musk. They've a reason for doing this, to kick out Labour + get a new right-wing government in its place. Labour have been a kick in the teeth to us disabled people so far, but do we really want to get Tories / Reform in their place? They'll slash welfare + any other public spending in favour of tax cuts for the rich. Not a good way to go…

IndignantPigeon hi I don’t think there is a chance of getting Labour out, it’s about getting them to review some of their policies that will and are having an impact on the vulnerable. Personally I don’t think any party will do any better not in this present financial crisis that is not just hitting this country but many countries around the world. No party was prepared for the pandemic or Brexit, there were no contingency plans in place and unfortunately it is always the poor and less fortunate that feel the brunt of the repercussions. It seems as though this country is continually in austerity and our politicians have no plan or strategy for getting us out of it. For years Labour have criticised the conservatives for getting into bed with the Chinese, United Arab nations and what are they doing now.

We need to ensure that our MP’s work in our best interest and sometimes petitions can let them know we are not happy with the way things are going.
