Random call

First off merry christmas or happy holidays.

Had a random phone call from a pip assessor today asking me to confirm my bank details and because one of my problems is dealing with money would I be able to mange a lump sum paid into my account. I explained my wife deals with all the household money and I would be fine. She then told me she would be making a decision later today.

Does anyone have any experience of this happening with them?

That would have been from DWP and not from the PIP assessor because they don't make decisions, only a decision maker from DWP can make decisions.

I would say that's a possitive phone call because they wouldn't ask that question if there was no award. All you can do is wait for the decision now.

I just didn’t understand what was going on. I have worsening tennis elbow and the fact I can’t work has worsened my ptsd from my experience from Iraq invasion and later tours of Iraq and Afghan. I know tennis elbow sound silly, but my god it’s got horrific. Thanks for your comment.

PTSD was under control a few years back but now I’m getting strong feelings in my dreams. Tennis elbow as daft as it seems, I’ve been referred to a surgeon. I’m slipping back to my old ways. Sorry for putting my feelings on people

I had the same phone call at the beginning of the week. Then yesterday I had a text to say I've been awarded PIP. I called them and they gave me the details of what uve been awarded. Hopefully you will get a text soon (maybe after xmas)

After Christmas now because DWP are now closed until Thursday 29th. Phone lines are open Wednesday for urgent or missing payments only. https://www.gov.uk/contact-jobcentre-plus/christmas-and-new-year-opening

it sounds positive, as it would be odd for them to call to check if they weren’t going to send a back dated and regular payment over?

I also had a similar experience/ phone call from DWP after my PIP MR
and he told me they had awarded me and were checking my details for the above reasons.

though It dd take a while for my payment to come through about 2 weeks I think?

but perhaps as it several months worth and a considerable sum to pay/authorise.

I hope you get a nice surprise in your bank account soon 🤞🏽
Also the money often arrives before the award letter does especially this time of year with holidays, delays and strikes etc so maybe keep an eye on that hopefully you can get a text next week about it 🙂

I have received similar phone call. I had my assessment on 21st November and then around 12 December received a phone call from dwp. The lady asked me some question how often I was off from work and if I’m able to drive. She also said that she asked this because she needs a make decision if I will get it for how long as my health problems will stay with me for the rest of my life. I’ve asked her when I can expect some news ad she said before Christmas. And on 21st I’ve received text message I’ve been awarded. Not sure how much and for how long as I haven’t received letter or payment yet and just found out from here I can actually call there and ask 🫣

When I received a text message I was delighted! I was happy coz it took only 8 weeks for me. But when I saw what was paid back today and when I rang DWP I wasn’t that happy at all. I will request MR. Tbh I expected they enhanced rate on both with my limited movements and mental issues. I’m really stressed now. I was under impression that both accessor and person who called to me and who made a decision was on my side and totally understand it but now I’m not so sure

It's not about them being on your side. Whether it's possible to score enough of points for Enhanced for both parts will totally depend on how your conditions affect you. Before requesting the MR you should get some expert advice from an agency near you. https://advicelocal.uk/welfare-benefits

Just an update. I called pip yesterday to see if there was any news. Apparently it’s with the decision makers line manager. Is this normal? I’ve also had my paperwork audited too.

Don't know about "line manager" but it's normal for it to be with a decision maker because they make decisions. Once a decision is made you'll be contacted.

Yeah I new it was with a decision maker as I mentioned in my first post, as the decision maker contacted me. I was just wandering if anyone new why it would go to a line manager and if it was a normal process?
