Hi, my partner has a PIP tribunal via telephone next week, I am his appointee, he's claiming under mental health and wasn't awarded based on him holding a manual driving licence.

Please can someone give us advice on what to expect next week? He needs a lot of support, is currently having intensive therapy, under a social care plan, our disabled son gets transport to school both because he needs it and because my partner's mental health means he cannot drive during busy periods throughout the day due to the distress it causes him.

Never done a PIP tribunal so all advice welcome. Thank you.

The tribunal will have looked at the papers before the hearing. They will ask questions to help them review the information they have read and to fill in gaps in their understanding of how is affected by his health problems. Tribunals are simply gathering information to inform their decision. They may tell you the decision on the day but you may have to wait for a decision in the post.

Thank you, we have to wait for his decision, if he's not awarded then we will keep going, and apply again, we have support from a law centre who help with form filling etc but they are quite some distance away, but they are accessible if needs be. We will just have to travel, if it helps him get awarded then we need to get there.
