Backdated PIP Award Confusion

Hi ... I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays
On 30th Dec I had a phone call to discuss my PIP. The gent went through some questions on my Review form ...
At the end of that he told me that my Daily Living would be changed to Enhanced but Mobility would remain Standard
Now my confusion. He told me that my enhanced award would be backdated to May 2022 (whhen I returned the form) and that the money would be in my account within 5 working days.
Is this usual/ unusual as I thought the new award would start from the Review Decision ?
TIA

Under normal times if it's a review started by DWP then the new award starts from when the decision was made. As there's huge backlogs for a lot of reviews then they have been awarding from an earlier time so this is likely why you're owed some money.

Thanks Poppy.
That makes sense. I didn't/don't want to make plans for the money in case it was a mistake
Fingers crossed. Thanks again0 -
No problem. There's been other members here that also received some money owed after a review started by DWP.

Thanks @durhamjaide2001
I spoke to a very nice man who seemed to point me towards what to say as he sought clarification to what I wrote in the descriptors ... everything was accurate and true, just my wording was off and potentially unhelpful for me
After reading some posts here, call me cynical but sometimes it seems it's down to who you deal with from Assessor to DM for a happy result (in my opinion) ?0
