First and Last

Below is my last poem of last year and my first poem of this year. I think they go together hand in hand.

New Year and me 

When this new year comes into being,  

It is not a new me you will be seeing 

The individual should not adapt, society needs to change 

We need to unite and change the World for the better 

We must be careful when creating a better world 

We must ensure that we do not destroy the planet  

Our only home in the process 

 31st December 2022

New Year  

A new day dawns, a new year begins 

Let us hope it is the start of a smart socialist future 

The beginning of a cleaner better world 

Where we build society that look at the needs of everyone 

Not focus on the wants of the loud, the rich, and the powerful 

There is enough food to feed everyone in the world 

Let us stop making money from people’ misery, fortunes from famines 

Eliminate greed and hunger from the world, put a stop to the capitalist 

Save the planet and its people from the horrors of capitalism 

Let us close the gapping gap between the classes  

Then everyone can not only have a Happy New Year 

They can have a prosperous and happy life
