Why would you be asked to send in bank statements. A review? Checking everything? Is this normal?

Seems like they could be checking something. Is it normal? yes, if they checking your claim. You will need to make sure you send what they've asked for.

Unfortunately I can't answer this for you as isn't my area of expertise but well done for spotting this. You never know these days with Scams and stuff. I'm in no way saying that this is a scam but it's better to seek advice.0

I’ve never had a review though… In which I’ve got to send over months and months worth of bank statements etc.I’ve got nothing to hide but I just feel it’s a bit bizarre. Checking that I still live at my address is this normal or has someone flagged something to them for them to Q this?0

That's good that someone is already flagged this up for you.0

I never said it was a review. They are obviously checking something but i have no idea what that could be. Something may have been flagged but again i can only guess what it could be. If you want more information as to the reasons why then you will need to ask them. You still need to send what they've asked for otherwise your claim could be suspended.0

No poppy that’s what it has come through as. “A review” I didn’t mean that’s what you called it.Thanks.0

Due to all the fraud that happened during the pandemic especially regarding UC/Advanced Payments the DWP are getting more stringent in checking bank accounts and just general fraud checks, they also check social media including Facebook.0

We had a check a few years ago when we were claiming tax credits, they wanted to see bank statements, wage slips etc, so we sent copies of everything they asked for and all was fine.
I assumed it was nothing untoward and we had simply been chosen at random...
Most likely it's what's happened for you too.0 -
Thanks guys, I’ve literally nothing to hide. There’s actual cobwebs growing in my account. Nothing untoward, just bills and online food shops. I just wondered as to why because I’ve never had one.Thankyou though for your kind explanations and clearing up my worries.0

Random Fraud and compliance checks are usually focused on people who claimed UC during the pandemic, because of lack of identity checks at the time. Although others on ESA have also reported these compliance checks.0
