This site is a real god send and has helped me alot over the years, however I do notice people ask the same questions.

Would it be helpful if we could have some tips / FAQ pinned at the top of the forum that are made by members on the most frequently asked questions? or something simliar that people can quickly refererence. I just think it'll be handy to have all the tips and questions in one place rather than try find the answer in the forum.

I agree. If I personally need to look for something I use the search tool, although I do understand that some members might be unable to use this feature for whatever reason (age, sight loss etc). The most annoying thing I remember was when the cost of living payments were made… I simply copied and pasted my answer on some posts! the recommendation was made to admins to merge threads too.

It is a good idea but new people don't look first they just ask their questions 

All the info is in the different categories but maybe a banner or some like quick link on the first page they see
