LCWRA Assessment period

Hi all,
I was awarded Lcwra on 15th Dec 2022 and I have queried if I am due any backpay,
I submitted my first sick note on 28th July 2022 and each month after.
I was awarded LCWRA 15th Dec 2002 and received my first payment on 3rd Jan 2023.
I am aware of the 3 month assessment period and presumed that this would go from 28th July (my first sick note).
However when I queried this on my uc journal I received this reply.
Date of award 28th July 2022.
1AP 27/08/2022 - 26/09/2022
2AP 27/09/2022 - 26/10/2022
3AP 27/10/2022 - 26/11/2022
payment made in AP 27/11/2022 - 26/12/2022.
Could anybody please advise me on why the first assessment period goes from 27/08/22 and not from the date that my first sick note was submitted, I'm so confused.
Many thanks in advance.

The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and then it’s paid from the 4th month.
If you reported your health condition on the same date as your fit note was sent then that’s after that start of your assessment periods, which are 27th to 26th of each month. Therefore you reported it a day after it started. For this reason the month you reported it doesn’t count, so the first month starts from 27th August.

Thank you Poppy for your reply and explanation, it all makes sense now.0

Unfortunately, had you reported your health condition one day earlier (on 27th July) you would have got the extra money one month earlier.0

Hi am receiving lcwra at the moment do I still get this when I get my state pension april0

If you are single, No. LCWRA is part of UC, not a separate benefit. UC stops when you reach pension age unless you have a partner who is younger than you.hayden2204 said:Hi am receiving lcwra at the moment do I still get this when I get my state pension april0 -
Your question was also answered on another thread here https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/comment/632809#Comment_632809 and also answered on another thread but oddly that thread seems to be missing.hayden2204 said:Hi am receiving lcwra at the moment do I still get this when I get my state pension april0 -
😒 I wish I would have known this before but never mind at least I got awarded with LCWRA without any issues.calcotti said:Unfortunately, had you reported your health condition one day earlier (on 27th July) you would have got the extra money one month earlier.0
