Pip Award Automated Line Question

Ray212

Hello,

New here.

Had a text this morning that I had been awarded pip. I wanted to see if I could find out how much it was(anxiety gets the better of me) and I rang the helpline and was told a figure and that the payment date was 17th March.

I know the automated line isn't to be relied upon but wanted to ask is the amount I was told the amount I will get each month or the arrears?

Appreciate any help

I think the automated help one will only tell you the regular amount, not any arrears payment.

Now that a decision has been made the arrears payment should be made within a few days.

That figure doesn't include any money that's owed. You will receive money owed first, then the decision letter. Once you have the decision letter it will explain where you scored those points, the reasons why and what day of the week to expect your 4 weekly payments.

As you correctly said the payment line often gives incorrect amounts so you shouldn't rely on that.

Hi, Thank you very much for a quick reply

Hopefully it is the regular amount. Thank you again

It's also been known for it to give incorrect information for the regular amount, especially when you're first awarded. If you want to know what your award is, how much money they owe you and when you'll receive it into your bank you can ring them to ask.

Thank you very much, I am not sure my anxiety will get me to that point, speaking to people on the phone is a big big issue for me. The telephone assessment was a nightmare.

I guess waiting for the letter will probably be best.

Hi, sorry I have one more question.

Does pip start from when I started the claim or when I submitted the claim? For instance I started claim on 8th November but didn't submit it until 8th December (which is how long it took to get evidence etc)

calcotti

PIP starts from the day you rang to start the claim..

Ray212

I started it online on the 8th November but "submitted" it on the 8th December so runs from 8th November from what you are saying?

I’m not of an aware of any way of starting a claim online. The health information form can be completed online - that isn’t the claim form. The claim starts on the day you ring the PIP claim number and tell them you want to claim PIP.

Ray212

Ah right yes I did ring them initially and completed the rest online. Do you know I completely forgot about ringing them!

The date you rang is the start date.

Thank you!

The automated line is useless, the amount it says for my hubby is completely different from what he gets each month.

Ray212

Is it out by much? The amount it says I "should" be getting is equal to what I thought I would get

JBS2022

He gets £200 more a month than the automated line claims, but we don't check it very often and it's never right when we do, others claim it works perfectly, so if the amount matches your PIP monthly payment it will probably work for you.

Congratulations on getting PIP

Ray212

Thank you

Your welcome

Ray212

Thought I would come back now I have the paperwork etc.

So the automated line was actually correct. Receiving standard rate daily living.

Started claim in November 2022, sent paperwork and completed online form back December 2022. Interview over the phone January 2023. Awarded PIP February 2023

Award given until September 2025.

Was a straight forwards process, well for me but was quite daunting in what to expect with interviews, getting paperwork, filling things out etc. I was panicking myself and can see why others do as well.

@Ray212 Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's always good to hear about some of the more straight forward cases and gives others reading hope. Having that insight into what is expected with form filling really helps, and I'm glad you managed to get through it and receive an award you're happy with?
