Successful after MR

Hi all, I’m new here so I’m sorry I’m posting in the incorrect place but hopefully found the right spot.
I applied for pip in February of last year for a chronic health condition (which has been operated on with not much success) and also mental health due to abuse. Unfortunately due to my mental health and changes which were occurring in my life I didn’t get my assessment until October. I am not able to leave my home due to PTSD, and if I absolutely have to I have to take diazepam to do so so it’s a very very rare occurrence. Whilst I thought I explained everything as fully as I could I got 0 points. The letter I got explaining why clearly showed barely anything of what I said was took into account.

I called and said I wanted it looking into for a MR, and I kept calling to provide updates. I have a police investigation ongoing which I’m victim in so I update them with that, my medication changes I was updating them with, and I always found them really helpful and kind.
I had a phone call today from a lovely Scottish lady who said that she’s read all of my notes and what my GP had sent, took everything which I told her into account, and she would be awarding me one rate back to the start of the claim, and then adding the other rate a few months later and I’d get a backdated payment in a few days. She asked if I was okay getting it in one lump as it would likely be a large amount.

It’s a big weight lifted for me as at my lowest I just stopped paying everything, and I’ve racked up a lot of arrears. Whilst people understand my circumstances it doesn’t make me feel any better and I want to get back in a better place so hopefully this may start to do that. My job was what I was proud of, but I’m unable to leave home to go to it and not been in for over 9 months. My children constantly ask why I look so rough and I just have to tell them I’m tired, which isn’t a lie I’m always exhausted. I’m such a polar opposite to the me I know that it’s hard to come to terms with a lot of the days.
I’d read MR success rates were low so I wasn’t holding much hope, but I wanted to post to let others know there is definitely hope, keep them updated at all times with even the smallest change and ask them to call you to discuss it. They may do anyway but I stressed I needed them to call me and I believe this helped get my award.
I apologise for the little essay rant but wanted to put it out there that MRs are still successful; just save the phone number…!
