Hi @Brendan - & welcome to the community. I'm also a fan of abdominal/diaphragmatic breathing.

As mentioned in your link, babies & young children automatically use this type of breathing, but adults seem to have 'forgotten'. I agree with going with the 'tempo that's comfortable with you,' rather than, as later mentioned concentrating on how long you're breathing in, then out, as to me that then becomes distracting.
