LCWRA & PIP

Hi my name is Rob and after working my whole life I am struggling a bit! now that I am LCWRA due to many health conditions, where do I go or what can I do now ? I have just seen on UC Journal today that I have been given the extra payment, PIP assessment completed via  phone call out of the blue on 22nd Feb, txt 6hrs later confirming written report received and expect 8 week to decision. But how do I keep my mind busy rather than jelly ?

Hi there @RobY and welcome You are certainly not alone in feeling worried about the wait for a decision on your PIP application, it can be a very stressful process. How did you find your telephone assessment went? 

One of the best ways to take your mind off things is to focus on things you enjoy, or to spend time with loved ones. You've reached out on the forum here, and we've got plenty of ways to keep your mind busy!

You can visit the coffee lounge to meet other members, and chat about anything and everything. There's even a few different games you can join in with if you'd like. 

I wonder if you could explain more about what you mean by this question:

I might be missing something, but it would be helpful to know more so we can help reassure you, or point you in the right direction

I am not stressed by my wait for PIP decision, it is what it is and I shall appeal f it is declined.

Having always worked I now find myself locked in a spiral of ill health and staying warm in bed, but surley there must be more?.

Thanks for explaining @RobY it's helpful to know more about how things are going I'm glad to hear you're not stressed about the wait for PIP, and wish you the best for a positive outcome. 

The transition from working to not working is a big change, so naturally it might be difficult to adjust to, that's only human. Online communities like this are a good way to stay social certainly!

I wonder, do you have any particular passions or hobbies you could get involved with from home? I'd be curious to know what you did for work?

I spent much of my life in the plastics blow/injection moulding industry worked my way up at 19 from packing bottles on the shop floor to process technician to production manager and eventually production and logistics director at another company, shipping automotive under bonnet, interior trim and fuel tank parts world wide to just in time requirements.
After automotive fell off the edge in 2009 I ended up as a Technical team leader for Philips to be part of setting up and verifying bespoke automation machinery before launching a new baby feeding bottle using full robot automation.
It easier than people think to go from a well paid job especially when a government chucked in brexit 800 made redundant and  a world leading business moved to mainland Europe.

I have just earlier manged to get downstairs and as expected (guided by previous UC Work coach who is herself disabled she was turned down firstly) I have been refused so the mandatory rigmarole before appeals begins on Monday. Oh Hum

Thanks for explaining @RobY that must've been fascinating work, it's amazing how many things can become automated! I'm sorry to hear what happened to your company though. I hope you were suitably supported with having to leave work, if that's the case. 

Oh dear, these things are never easy at the best of times, so if we can do anything to help support you during the appeal, please ask!

I'm glad (in a way) to hear your work coach has been through this herself. Having someone who understands on your side can go a long way towards making this easier to manage. Plus, if she was awarded after appealing, she can definitely help support you at this stage

Since being informed of LCWRA  I do not seem to be able to contact former work via journal entry, someone always responds, but She may be of ill at the moment.
