Hello, I am new to this platform but I am looking for some help for my friend who is really struggling with her sons needs. He is severely Austistic, non verbal, mobility problem and more. She is becoming so upset and telling me she feels like she's loosing her bond with him because she's struggling so much and he's getting bigger. There's talks with her ex partner about passing over more time to him but obviously as a mother this is heartbreaking for her and she's feeling guilty about everything. I don't feel like she's getting all the help she can and is entitled too. I wondered is there any help in providing a carer for her to help out with the harder times like getting him to bed etc. I think just that little extra support could help her. Thank you

You need to ask for a social care assessment via the local council, this way they can allocate short breaks for the child which could be a personal assistant to take her out socially, my son gets 5 hours pw in term time and 10 in the holidays.they may have specialist services for your friend’s daughter0

Hello @LauraAhmet and thanks for reaching out, it does sound like your friend is having a tough time at the moment.
As vickibee says, you can ask, or your friend can self-refer for a needs assessment with her local authority, to help them decide if she's eligible for any additional support.
Your friend might also like to see if Scope's Family Services can help too, such as Navigate, which offers emotional support for parents and carers of disabled children.
Let us know if we can help further with anything
