HEPL! I have been trying to contact DWP for over three weeks now I have spent hours on hold on the line and then it goes dead.
Maybe one of you guys can help me, I have recently been sent my PIP letter (I have been disabled for ten years) will this suffice to tax my car as I have lost any certificate I may have had.
Thanks for any help you could give me.

Hi @quickfinger - & welcome to the community. Getting a car tax exemption/reduction depends on whether you have been awarded enhanced or standard rate of the mobility component respectively. You can see some info here & what you need to claim these: https://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vehicles-and-transport

Hello @quickfinger
Welcome to the community!
I'm sorry to hear you have found it difficult to get in contact with DWP, it's something I've seen a few users have difficulty with. I hope the link above from Chiarieds is helpful, I've also read calling around 4pm has been successful for some too.0 -
If you're claiming for free road tax (VED) then you will need your certificat of entitlement. Your PIP award letter won't be accepted.

Thanks Poppy Have lost the darn thing somewhere. will have to write them a letter.0

Try ringing first thing in the morning when they open. Writing them a letter may take them quite sometime to respond, if they do at all.0

Poppy,
Without any exageration I have been trying contact them by Phone every day for the past three weeks and after being put on hold for about 40 minutes on each occasion I just get a continuous tone i must have been waiting on hold for hours over the course of three weeks. I am at my wits end.0 -
I cannot see anything on the DWP twitter page about any backlogs or delays with calling in 🤔
With no other way to contact them, the only thing to do is to keep trying, which I know is so frustrating to hear / do.0
