Hi 👋

Hello I am very interested in assistance dogs, strategies or tips for when out eg anxiety,  access, dealing with busy crowds when in powerchair or on sticks.

Huge dog lover and value their support in life.

Mum of grown up children.
Fantastic Husband who is my carer. Actually he deserves to be promoted to Super Husband 🤣

Sadly had to retire early through ill health,

so here I am trying my best to live with mental  and physical health issues!

Hello @CBee and a warm welcome to our online community, I love your profile pic! Is that your doggy?

Assistance dogs are wonderful aren't they? Here's a link to the Assistance Dogs UK website incase you've not visited that before. Would you be interested in applying for one?

And I'm sorry you're experiencing a degree of anxiety when out in busy spaces. It can be a difficult feeling to manage. Have you spoken with your GP about it before? And do you think perhaps a referral for talking therapy might help? I appreciate it's not for everyone, and there are lengthy waiting lists, but maybe it's something to consider?

I'd be interested in what other coping strategies our members use when out and about. I know what helped me during a similar time, was going out with someone I trusted and slowly increasing my exposure to the places I feared more and more. Sometimes you have to be kind to yourself though and not listen to that critical inner voice who likes to chip in!

It would be great to get to know you more, so feel free to get involved wherever you like (here's our different categories!).

Take care and have a fab night.
