Hi all,

Just thought I'd post for the first time. I'd like to thank everyone on the forum, it's been hugely supportive reading everyone else's experiences for what as I'm sure you'll all agree is an extremely anxious process of seeking PIP.

This morning I received the 'You have been awarded PIP' text, I've no idea what the award is yet, to be honest I'm just delighted to have finally been awarded something!  :)

I thought I'd post my timeline and also the gist of a conversation I had with the DWP yesterday.

My timeline:

3rd March 2023 - Applied online for PIP.

16th May - 'We've received the written report of your PIP assessment...' text. A bit concerned at the time as they'd gone straight to a paper based assessment. I'd built myself up awaiting the telephone or face to face assessment.

30th May - 'We have not yet made a decision on your PIP claim...' text.

16th June - 'We have awarded you PIP...' text.

Coincidentally I called the DWP for the first time at just after 9am yesterday and got through straight away! I spoke to a very pleasant lady who informed me that my application was with the case handler and a decision was imminent. She went onto explain that they are indeed trying to reduce that gap between the 'We have not yet made a decision' text to the award text to less than a week.

However she continued  to state that given the backlog at present the average delay is currently around four weeks from the not yet made a decision to the making an award text and that can vary significantly depending upon the complexity of the application. She made it very clear not to read anything into the timeframes at present given their backlog.

My application went to the Wolverhampton regional office.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing this @clangers23 I'm sure it will be very helpful for other members also applying for PIP :) I've just moved your post over into our PIP category so it's easier to find.
