Change of circumstances

Hi guys
I have a friend who has recently reported a change of circumstances to pip. He was receiving standard rate but has now by the looks of things getting high rate for both elements. His question to me was would he get backdated payment or wouldn't he? So my question here for him would be would he get this new award backdated as he reported the change if circumstances himself or not. I tried googling for him but couldn't find any info that helped get an answer. Thanks

only backdated you get if DWP PIP got your wrong benefits, if your circumstances change I don't think they will give any backdated0

That's not correct. If you report a change of circumstances for a worsening of condition and you're awarded a higher award, you will be owed the difference from the date you rang to report the changes.

Hi everyone,
Quick question - my GP has changed my tablets from Zapin to Tramadol ( 2 tablets - every 4 to 6 hours)
Do I need to report this change to PIP?
Many thanks0 -

It should just be an automatic change over. However, sometimes a change of benefit can flag up on the computer and could suspend (temporarily) another benefit such as ESA and housing benefit. It’s nothing to worry about and if it happens you just need to contact the department that pays the benefit.0
