How "major" is a Bowel Resection" for a 91 year old male ?
My Dad has to have one in 2 weeks - he had polyps in his intestines which he tells me were removed last year..

    Hello @Wibbles

I hope everything goes well with your fathers surgery! From someone who has had two stoma surgery's, a bowel resection is considered major surgery. Actually, most surgeries in the abdominal area are.

There was one point that a resection could have been an option for me. When I spoke to my surgeon they were more concerned of how I would react to anesthesia. And if the surgery wasn't done laparoscopically, keeping my incisions clean. If you are worried, I would contact your father's surgeon for more information.
