Hello I had my telephone assessment for pip on Friday and the DWP have already received the accessors written report by today is this is a bad sign.

I have a feeling I didn't word my answers correctly I felt the accessor rushed me I have a paranoid personality disorder aswell as 2 other personality disorders and do not like being around people will they take this into account or is it all just point scoring.

Sometimes reports are returned within a couple of hours after the assessment. PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. They will be looking at exactly how your conditions affect you against the 12 PIP activities, which is all about scoring enough of points needed for an award. You need to at least 8 points for standard and at least 12 points for Enhanced. The daily living and mobility descriptors are added separately.

There aren't any correct words other than you're own, but I'm sorry you felt rushed with your assessment. PIP is based on points as far as the assessment goes, but remember this is only one part of your claim as there's also your claim form together with any evidence you sent, & a decision maker will look at everything.

Thankyou for responding I'm just a bit confused with it all the text message I got said they will be in contact within 8 weeks with the decision can this be sooner and does anybody know how long it takes from assessment to decision.

Those 8 weeks can be anything up to 12 weeks. Timescales are just a guide, it will depend on backlog and each individual case. Some have a decision in a couple of weeks, some several and others a lot longer. You've done all you can for now, you just need to wait for the decision. Once it's made you'll be contacted.

You may receive some updates through text and letter while you wait.

Yes, you can ring PIP to request it. However, please be aware that it's not the decision, it's a recommendation only. Whilst they usually go with it, it has been known for them to go against it. Requesting it can also increase your anxiety, even if the report is in your favour.

UC & PIP are totally separate benefits, so I'd just try to wait for your PIP decision letter.

Hi @Rob123456789 I had my assessment on the 15th of August at 8.30 am. It lasted about 45 minutes. I received a text at 10am that same day to say the DWP had received the assessors report. I got my decision text today, 2 weeks after assessment, but I know some people are waiting a lot longer for a decision. Timelines seem to be very variable.

If it's a first time claim and you're successfully award they do sometimes send a text but not always. If there's no award then there will be no text. Either way, a decision letter will still be sent.

Good luck @Rob123456789, I know it's really stressful and anxiety-inducing. Waiting really is the worst but I've my fingers crossed for you.

If you'd like some distraction you can always try just wiling away some time in the Coffee Lounge, might distract you for a little bit at least and you'll meet people.

If I am not awarded PIP am I entitled to appeal and if so what's the chances of a reconsideration. Thankyou all for taking the time to respond.

You can challenge any decision. Most MR decisions remain the same and only about 22% of them change in the claimants favour.

There's a much higher chance of a Tribunal going in your favour if you either appear in person, or have a telephone/video hearing and there's 70+% chance of success.

I had my assessment 27th of July, heard nothing yet.

I feel your pain .had mine 5th Aug .Still waiting .I know it can be up to 12 weeks and everyone is different but that doesn't help your anxiety 😕. Fingers crossed it won't be long now

Is it possible to have a mandatory reconsideration, and a tribunal if all else fails, I'm guessing all of that would be very time consuming.

Timescales for both in total can be as long as 1 year. However, you may not even have to go through that process because not everyone is refused or has an award they aren't happy with.
