Hi @zee2023, welcome to the scope community :) how are you doing today? Do you already have a car at all?

If you're asking about a car, there are a few eligibility requirements for the Motability scheme. If that is what you are asking about. They are listed here on the gov.uk site.

    The Motability Scheme

The Motability Scheme can help you with leasing a car, powered wheelchair or scooter. You’ll need to be getting one of the following:

    • higher rate of the mobility component of DLA
    • higher rate of the mobility component of Child Disability Payment
    • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
    • Armed Forces Independence Payment
    • enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP
    • enhanced rate mobility component of Adult Disability Payment
I hope this helps answer your question!

I'll also move this to our transport section, people will most certainly know more there than I do!

Unfortunately not. For motability you need to be claiming either high rate mobility DLA, Enhanced mobility PIP or Enhanced mobility ADP.

Spot on. Also even having Enhanced Mobility PIP it does not offer an automatic entitlement for a Blue Badge. You have to re-apply for it every 3 years and prove what your award is and for how long. Seems silly really when they have access to the information from the DWP (so I have recently found out!).

With all due respect, what on earth does a BB have to do with what this thread is related to? It's about leasing a car, not about a BB.

I think it's just due to being related to cars and mobility, I imagine 2oldcodgers just had a tangent thought. You mentioned Enhanced Mobility PIP, they remembered that even a blue badge can be difficult to get with Enhanced Mobility PIP. Perhaps comparing with how high a barrier it is to get a motability car.

I have these tangent thoughts all the time myself, can natter on about some very strange things my brain has connected the current topic to.
