Hello,
my dad is moving from WTC to UC relatively soon. He’s been self employed for a long time. He sometimes don’t earn nothing sometimes earns a bit.

However, will he be exempt from the MIF for the first 12 months of his claim?
He is also disabled (claims on going award for PIP) so he will be submitting fit notes to trigger the WCA for LCWRA.
He’s absolutely worried to death! That he won’t be entitled to UC?!
Please anyone, help. Poppy, I’m reaching out to you girl ☹️☹️x

Yes he will qualify for the 12 month start up period when he first claims UC. Details here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-and-self-employment-quick-guide/universal-credit-and-self-employment
If he’s found to have either LCW or LCWRA then he can’t be found to be gainfully self employed so the MIF won’t apply.
When he first claims UC he will need to attend a gateway appointment at his local job centre.1 -
I’m halfway through sorting out a DWP home visit to verify his details as he struggles to leave, he’s self employed (works from home) as he’s house bound etc.poppy123456 said:Yes he will qualify for the 12 month start up period when he first claims UC.
