Hi All
Im just looking for some advice. A friend of mine has just been awarded PIP and whilst they are extremely grateful, they have been awarded the standard rate.
They scored 11 points however there is something in the report which we feel is incorrect as it states that they do not suffer from anxiety although they are on the highest dose of an antidepressant because of their anxiety and depression.
Will sending in a MR mean a stop to their benefits whilst the decision is being made?

I’m aware that a decision could stop the benefit or will remain the same but im
just checking that by doing an MR it won’t affect the benefit they are receiving currently.
Thanks for any advice received.

A current award will continue while waiting for the MR decision. The most likely outcome will be the decision remains the same. Only about 23% change in a claimant’s favour. Of course there’s also a small chance they could lose points and any current award but it’s rare. However, they will not score an extra point based on any diagnosis. Before doing anything else they need to make sure they fully understand the descriptors. They then need to look through them to see if it’s possible to score more points.
