Pip - how long does it take?

I as wondering how long it takes as I had my assessment for pip 3 days ago also had a message saying they’ve received my pip report x I’m just wondering if will take that long now they said tops is 8 weeks from pip assessment x I’ve had 9 strokes it’s taken my mobility x i can’t walk at all can’t move my leg or arm or hand left side x really struggling with everything in day to day life x will I get pip at all and will it take long I rely totally on my mum x she’s a pensioner and can’t claim carers allowance cx

It can take anything up to 12 weeks after the report was returned to DWP. No one can predict what the decision will be. Once it’s made you will be contacted.

Hi @winyard - & welcome to the community. I'm sorry for the number of strokes you've had, & how some activities of daily living & your mobility have been affected.Altho you've been told it could be 8 weeks until you get a decision, in reality it can be anything from 2-12 weeks. Unfortunately we can't say if you'll be awarded PIP, as it depends if you meet the criteria, & if you therefore get sufficient points to get an award. Hopefully all will go well.1

Hi Caroline, I know the waititng is just awful. I am so sorry about your situation. Yes, they tell you it might take around 8 weeks, but obviously it differs. I had my decision a week after assesement, so fingers crossed for you:-) Please let us know if you hear anything, hopefully soon:-)1

@Jimm_Scope thanks for this , I’m just waiting with my he hope I hear something very soon x as my stokes happened in may one asked for them to start the claim from then as wasn’t well enough to sort this phone call then x I’ll defo keep everyone updated 😘0

Hi a little update great news x got msg today been awarded pip so I called then x they said I’ve got high rate on mobility and high rate care but only bk dated from the date I made my claim sept 11 th x so there putting it in shortly but I admits them to bk fate it’s from may as I’ve had strokes x9 I couldn’t physically tell them myself as took my speech so my daughters calling them bk Tuesday xx fantasticc newscasts hope this helps with other ppl going thru the same xx

Good news! When did you actually ring to start the claim, was it September 11th? If it was then it will not be paid from May I’m afraid.You can’t backdate a PIP claim to a date before you rang to start the claim, it doesn’t work like that. If it did then everyone would be doing that.1

thankyou its thanks was only because I’d had 89 strokes and wasn’t in the position too as I didn’t know if I’d pull through x it’s ok x I’m happy I got a result anyway x thankyou everybody who’s helped with this x much appreciated x goodnight xx0

I needed to say that ghis site has helped me in so many ways x I haven’t received any money yet also I stated 89 strokes was a typical error lol 8 ssmaller strokes and a big one but endocarditis caused theose xx
