Health issue put on work WhatsApp group

The reason for me being off work sick was put on our works WhatsApp group. This happened in 2022 but I've not been well enough since to find out if they have breeched any confidentiality rules. I no longer work for the company but I still have the chats as proof. The information given out was for an ankle injury and it also gave all my sicknote dates. I also have MH issues and this has concerned me about what other info has been talked about without my knowledge. Is it worth me looking in to regarding a claim against the company or should I move on and forget about it.

Firstly, I am so sorry that your private health and medical information was put onto a work group chat. That is a breach of confidentiality. I think it is worth speaking to someone at ACAS or even your union to get further advice and look at options. And of course, we are here to support you any way we can

definitely a breach of confidentiality, but it would have been better to have tackled this in 2022.

I am no expert so dont know the ins and outs of your rights retrospectively, but you would need to figure out what it is you would like to happen ie..an apology, monetary redress or something else.

Was there any fallout from this breach, did anyone mention your health in passing, were there negative

If it was me, i would forget about it and move on, but the fact that you are bringing this up in 2024 would indicate that it is on your mind.

If you proceed with some sort of action then be prepared for it not being an easy process.
