Hi @Daverhodgy1, welcome to our online community :) I'm not 100% on the answer of your question just yet but I'm sure we'll be able to get an answer for it! We have many members who are quite knowledgeable about benefits.

What I'll do is move this over to our Benefits category so it's more visible to those members :)
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

For you to be able to claim carers element your partner must be claiming a qualifying disability benefit, such as PIP/ADP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care.

The same rules apply for claiming carers allowance. If they do claim either of those benefits then claiming carers allowance will just be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Does your UC include the LCWRA element for yourself?

Just to also check do UC know that you are partners living in the same house?
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
