High everyone, just a quick question me and my partner of twenty years live in shared accommodation we both have a room so claim separate, my partner has suffered with mental health issues and C. O. P. D and gets uni credit and lwcra and I currently get uni credit, she has recently started started to get worse and his now under zinnia Centre I have asked if I can apply for carers allowance as I care for her more than 35 hours a week, is this allowed with the benifits she gets and the benifits I get, I appreciate all the help I can get, thanks

Hi @Daverhodgy1, welcome to our online community
I'm not 100% on the answer of your question just yet but I'm sure we'll be able to get an answer for it! We have many members who are quite knowledgeable about benefits.
What I'll do is move this over to our Benefits category so it's more visible to those members0 -
For you to be able to claim carers element your partner must be claiming a qualifying disability benefit, such as PIP/ADP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care. The same rules apply for claiming carers allowance. If they do claim either of those benefits then claiming carers allowance will just be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.
Does your UC include the LCWRA element for yourself?Just to also check do UC know that you are partners living in the same house?0
