Carers Allowance not been paid?!

So I applied for New Style ESA a few weeks back.

Rang the helpline and was told I’d be paid £8 every two weeks…. I spoke to an advisor who told me because I get CA my ESA would be reduced by that much.

I cancelled my ESA claim because of this. It seemed pointless.

Got a letter saying they can’t pay ESA now… thought it was all cancelled.

Due to get my sons carers allowance today…. No payment!

Can anyone tell me why? I get child benefit and carers every Saturday (due in on Mondays) because my bank clears them on a Saturday. I got my child benefit as normal but no CA so don’t think it’s the bank.

will ring Monday obviously.

It would be impossible for anyone here to tell you what exactly has happened and we can only guess.

Would it likely be because I claimed NS ESA? I got a letter after I cancelled the claim saying “we cannot pay you NS ESA because you claim UC”

which thought was odd as u can claim both along side each other but it gets deducted from UC

Possibly. That would not be the reason why your claim for NsESA was refused. You can claim both of those benefits together but the ESA would be deducted in full from any Universal Credit entitlement, as you correctly stated.

To be entitled to NsESA you would need to have the correct NI contributions in the previous 2 tax years. If you're claiming UC does this include the carers element as well? (unless you're receiving the LCWRA element for yourself because the same person can't receive both elements at the same times.) Carers allowance is deducted in full from any UC entitlement anyway.

Thank you. Yes I get LCWRA and my husband gets the carers element.
I’m so confused and actually quite worried.
    I knew I shouldn’t have claimed the esa :(
feel like I’ve messed everything up now
