After attending A&E a month or so ago, the gp sent me a message and asked to make an appointment, i explained to him how i dont feel safe in my current hmo and am not coping

He said he would refer me to social prescribing who would help me with housing, filling in forms and understanding my mail

I received a call today and within 5 minutes of the call i end up swearing at them and putting the phone down, as they cant help with housing, they cant help with form filling (didnt wait to see if they could help with my mail)

I feel like **** as no-one wants to help me, i feel i would be better of dead as i wont be a burden to them when all i want is help, its hard as it is asking for help then when you dont get any it makes me angry

i think I remember you posting about the A&E visit.
I’ve had really similar bad experiences but with CMHT who have been beyond useless.
I think you should go back to GP or message them and let them know what’s happened, you should def have it on file that the referral was terrible .

I keep being told that 'everyone wants to help'...which is the opposite of my experience.  Maybe people are just saying that to make themselves feel like they've helped?  It seems like no organisation takes responsibility, just keep blaming other organisations and sending us round in circles.

The sad reality is that help doesn't really exist for many things.  You have to be able to do the legwork yourself.  I was surprised when the local housing association told me they don't actually help anyone find properties.  They just recommend that the individual keeps checking the website and makes the bid for any property that fits their criteria.

Sorry to hear that they couldn't help you with what you needed @apples, it sounds like that wasn't the right way to help your specific situation. I would, if you can, go back to the GP and have them try another way forward. At the very least the GP should know that the Social Prescribing is not going forward and something else needs to be tried. Without knowing they may think the Social Prescribing referral is working.

I don't know about the specific Social Prescribing group you were directed towards, but while they cannot immediately help it does seem like they are often linked with groups that could offer other kinds help. It seems to be some kind of go-between for different organisations.

Keep an eye out for an email from us later.

This is absolutely shocking that they say this . I was told by a top NHS Psychologist that unless you’re schizophrenic or psychotic they try and push you aside and don’t take you serious, it’s so bad .  Are you under CMHT or have you had previous therapy with nhs ? I have both and both have been useless , especially CMHT who actually made me worse . I’m using my pip to pay for private psychotherapy that starts in 2 weeks.
Pls fight for the help you need . Contact pals .

They class severe MH as psychosis and schizophrenia. Everything else to them is ‘common’ MH . Depression / anxiety at the end of spectrum is SEVERE and leads to all sorts of other terrible thoughts.

I’ve never heard of MINT but after google it seems like a CMHT, and they made me worse too . I just don’t understand how these nhs MH services end up making a lot of people worse ? It happens all the time, I met some absolutely useless clinicians working for CMHT , from clinical psychologists all the way down to psychiatric nurses.  PALS is a service that you can complain to about the NHS provider and they’ll look into it. Most hospital etc have a PALS office. Is your GP backing you ? My GP has been pretty useless too.

Oh I just read you already complained about them.

Reaching out for help and being dismissed is awful.

Pls call crisis line if you need to , they have to log everything.

I will call crisis but I think last time I called them they couldn’t do anything as I asked to be discharged from mint who they would have referred me to, I like that the call is logged

i looked up pals so may be using them

my gp is useless as well, he was the one who promised me help through a social prescriber only to be told they can’t help, also a referral was done to my gp to try some new meds and they haven’t even contacted me to discuss / start treatment

seems no one wants to help

Sorry to hear that , I understand tho because it happened to me too ,I was getting dismissed constantly by MH team, I also have proof that they lied to me on more than one occasion.
Check PALS and maybe give them a call to explain your situation .
MH NHS services is so bad , I eventually ended up on a psychiatric ward last year for a few weeks and I tell you the way you’re treated is beyond belief . Not once did a nurse come to me and ask how I was , they ignore the patients , you basically get called for meds , go and eat and the rest of the day left completely on your own. There was nothing to do but walk up and down the corridor all day long. Couldn’t even cry in front of them because they keep you in longer, psychiatric nurse told me if I asked to be discharged they’d keep me longer so to be careful . Horrible horrendous acute psychiatric ward.

PALS is a waste of time as well.  They don't help anyone either.  They just accept complaints, but don't actually help in a practical way.

Seems we’re all in the same position then and have been let down by nhs MH services.

Part of my pip will pay for weekly private psychotherapy so hope that’ll help more .
