Why do i keep getting fobbed off
He said he would refer me to social prescribing who would help me with housing, filling in forms and understanding my mail
I received a call today and within 5 minutes of the call i end up swearing at them and putting the phone down, as they cant help with housing, they cant help with form filling (didnt wait to see if they could help with my mail)
I feel like **** as no-one wants to help me, i feel i would be better of dead as i wont be a burden to them when all i want is help, its hard as it is asking for help then when you dont get any it makes me angry

I keep being told that 'everyone wants to help'...which is the opposite of my experience. Maybe people are just saying that to make themselves feel like they've helped? It seems like no organisation takes responsibility, just keep blaming other organisations and sending us round in circles.
The sad reality is that help doesn't really exist for many things. You have to be able to do the legwork yourself. I was surprised when the local housing association told me they don't actually help anyone find properties. They just recommend that the individual keeps checking the website and makes the bid for any property that fits their criteria.0 -
Sorry to hear that they couldn't help you with what you needed @apples, it sounds like that wasn't the right way to help your specific situation. I would, if you can, go back to the GP and have them try another way forward. At the very least the GP should know that the Social Prescribing is not going forward and something else needs to be tried. Without knowing they may think the Social Prescribing referral is working.
I don't know about the specific Social Prescribing group you were directed towards, but while they cannot immediately help it does seem like they are often linked with groups that could offer other kinds help. It seems to be some kind of go-between for different organisations.
Keep an eye out for an email from us later.0 -
Thanks for the replies
I have been told yet again i am not suffering with severe MH, i would like them to live my life instead of talking to me for 5 minutes ! i swear and shout at drs while theyre telling me they cant help as i become frustrated yet my MH is not severe, i cant even leave my house due to not feeling safe0 -
thanks @letitbe i was under MINT but they made my MH worse telling me i shouldnt just stop taking the meds prescribed to me even though i told them i havent taken any as after googling them it said not recommended for anxiety, but MINT couldnt get this so asked to be discharged and put a complaint in against them
I will contact pals although i dont think i know who they are ?! same as CMHT ?! i'll have to google them
Thank you0 -
I will call crisis but I think last time I called them they couldn’t do anything as I asked to be discharged from mint who they would have referred me to, I like that the call is logged
i looked up pals so may be using them
my gp is useless as well, he was the one who promised me help through a social prescriber only to be told they can’t help, also a referral was done to my gp to try some new meds and they haven’t even contacted me to discuss / start treatment
seems no one wants to help0 -
PALS is a waste of time as well. They don't help anyone either. They just accept complaints, but don't actually help in a practical way.0
-
In my experience PALS side with the NHS and fob patients off.0

I am wondering whether me putting the complaint in about MINT has caused me not to receive help ?!
If something aint right / making me worse i am going to complain im not the sort to just put up with it0 -
I attended A&e for the 5th time beginning of may and I told them I wasn’t leaving until I got help, while I was sitting in reception I received a discharge notice on my phone so I signed back in again
I was told that due to my issues (housing) they can’t help so again I told them o
I’m not leaving until you do help
I complained about the treatment from my community MH so told them I’m not going back there so they said they would refer me to another but they might not accept me as it’s not my area, also told me they would contact my gp to try some meds
4 weeks later and I’ve heard nothing, I contact SPA last Thursday who said they would email my gp to chase up the meds recommended when I was at a&e but still nothing !

hi letitbe
I had cmht from November 2022 til they discharged me in June 2023 as they wanted me to go on group walks which I am unable to do as I don’t feel safe around people so they said they couldn’t offer me anymore help
I wasn’t diagnosed with anything, the dr diagnosed me with anxiety many years ago
dont Have anyone to chase up the meds for me
I’ll call spa when I can bring myself to talk to them on the phone

I was under a trainee psychologist when she discharged me I saw the psychiatrist once as I kept asking the psychologist about meds, this psychiatrist prescribed me meds and discharged me back to gp
The meds I didn’t take as when I googled them the nhs site said not recommended for anxiety, hence why I put the complaint in as this cmht made my my worse
The last time I saw my gp he said he would refer me to a psychiatrist but heard no more, so did a&e when I attended although they did say they might not accept me as it’s out of my area
I agree it is hit and miss I just don’t know what to do or where to go for help as it seems no one wants to help me

the only good thing maybe the trainee psychologist done was referred me for an asd assessment although I had to badger her to do it, but there’s a 3 year wait so still got 2 years yet

it might be the route I take paying for a private psychiatrist least I’ll be able to go through everything
Your dr didn’t contact you after being discharged 6 weeks ago ! Disgusting

I understand the pain of having to wait so long for an assessment. In my area it was a 3 year waitlist for an ADHD assessment. These areas of the NHS weren't well funded enough even before the cuts the NHS has had to go through.

I can use my pip to pay but as I’m not psychotic I might get the dismissal
Thanks for the advice I will let you know how I get on

A psychologist or psychiatrist deals with far more than just people who are "psychotic". They are trained to help deal with most mental health conditions.
