I've just checked my payments, & because I've been getting carers allowance I've lost the equivalent of u.c , and have to pay back over £1200 is that right. ?

Carers allowance is deducted in full from any UC entitlement. If you were claiming UC at the time your UC was awarded from then yes you will have an overpayment of UC. You should have also received a lump sum from Carers allowance.

You also need to make sure your UC includes carers element. However, if you’re claiming the LCWRA element for yourself then carers element can’t be paid at the same time to the same person.

Extra money applies to those with LCWRA and not LCW.

Assuming you had a lump sum from carers allowance, you can use that to pay what is owed to UC. Or UC will just reduce your monthly payments until it’s repaid back.
