Can I just flag up Age UK as a huge and invaluable resource, emotional support, benefit and legal advice, all sorts of practical help.. Many years since they tidied up my old mum's garden for a tenner and they have a handyperson service for odd jobs as well as the more standard home help, help after hospital and so on. https://www.ageuk.org.uk/

Thanks for sharing @Cantilip, I'm glad they were helpful to your mum and I'm sure some members will find it useful to look through the support they offer 😊

I got all my benefit advice from them too. I have found them really good, but of course I have to add that like anything national the service is totally dependent on the area you're in.

I agree it depends on the area, as well as the person actually giving that advice. It has been know for some members here in the past to have been given some misleading advice from a couple of advice agencies and AGE UK is one of them. Citizens Advice is the other one.

Giving benefits advice isn't the easiest thing to do.

Interesting. Fortunately at the moment I don't need any financial advice. Think I can trust them for practical things like giving my kitchen a good spring clean. That's not just the standard of the cleaning, that's their people being properly vetted. As a single female with lousy mobility I'm naturally cautious who I let in.
