I am currently in receipt of esa, pip, housing benefit, I have read that the move to uc might begin in 2025 rather than 2028, I'm worried that the move may cost me my home as I currently pay an additional £150pm month on top of my housing benefit, and I won't be able to afford that once I move to uc, does anyone have any advice as to if the move will go ahead, thankyou very much Lesley

At the moment the migration is planned for between Sept 2024 and Dec 2025. Whether that will change after the election I don’t know.

When you do receive a letter to migrate across your Income Related ESA and housing benefit will continue for 2 weeks and then stop.

Help with the rent will be included with your UC known as housing element and I would expect you to be entitled to the same for that as you’re receiving from Housing benefit.

If you’re in the Support Group for ESA then you’ll be entitled to the LCWRA element of UC from the start of your claim.

How much is the limited capability for work amount per month? And will I need to have an assessment even though I'm in receipt of the enhanced pip daily living and the mobility component? Thanks

Are you in the Support Group or WRAG? If Support Group then as I advised you’ll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. At the moment this is £416.19/month.

If in the WRAG this would be LCW for UC whether there’s any extra money for this will depend on whether your ESA started before or after April 2017.
