LCWRA University Student
Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows please - my son has had UC since 2019 and was awarded LCWRA. When he started university, payments stopped during the semester, as he received a maintenance loan. He then reapplied for the summer and was awarded it for the summer. This time they have said that in order to make a decision he needs to be reassessed (despite the professional report saying he is unlikely to improve). We will of course complete the questionnaire and send it in. However, they have only paid him for the standard rate and from what I can read, until this review is complete, the current LCWRA should still be valid? Does anyone know about this please? He has an indefinite Fit Note from the GP. Many thanks in advance.

If his UC claim stopped for longer than 6 months then yes he will need to have another work capability assessment. If found to have LCWRA then there will also be a waiting period before the extra money is paid, which is 3 full assessment periods and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after he provided his first fit note.
