How can I express my emotions to people who are not part of my family?

Whenever I go out on my own when my mum isn't with me, I sometimes struggle with showing my emotions to people who aren't part of my family in real life. Is one of the members of staff. I'm ok with showing emotion to other people that are my friends. I'm okay withs showing some men my emotions to me. Some women I can sometimes express my emotion and other women I seem to express my emotion. Gaming as help with expressing more of my emotions. I can express my emotions fine when it comes to sports. It seems to sometimes be happening on Wednesday. That go to a group with my friends with. Last time when I did cry at Wednesday group but didn't seem to end well and did say to stop crying by one member of staff. Similar thing happened with cars when I was scared of cars coming near me. Same member of staff said I shouldn't be scared of cars coming near me. Now I'm seeming to struggle to show or express my emotion from just one member of staff. Other members of staff seem to be okay with me. The only other time it did happen was when was in high school which I really hate very much. II just wanted to finish high school and I was swearing sometimes throughout high school. I will sometimes will swear but I will not do in front of children.. I'm been okay. I think it did start in high school when I did start struggling with my emotion. is was special education school. i'm not in any sort of special education section anymore.

Hi @Katiedimelow20. It can be really difficult to express feelings sometimes. When you say you struggle to express your emotions what are you referring to? Is it more the bigger emotions of crying or not being able to express your feelings, such as feeling happy or worried?
Also, what is the Wednesday group that you attend?

Were you unable to tell them that you are scared of balloons popping and loud noises? I'm sorry they made you feel uncomfortable. Is there another member of staff that you feel able to speak to?

It sounds like a difficult situation and I'm sorry the staff weren't considerate of your feelings. Dealing with your emotions might be helped by talking through things with someone. Here's some information about mental health support
. It has links to different services so you can find what suits you best.SHOUT might be a good option for you as it just involves texting. Text SHOUT to 85258 and you'll be connected with a volunteer who can talk through your feelings and what support you need 😊

Hi @Katiedimelow20 lovely to hear from you 😊
It seems really difficult for you, especially when your mum is with you most of the time. You need to try and focus on doing something nice for yourself. Focusing on something like a game can help you forget your worries for a while. Have you tried any mindfulness exercises? They can help to clear your head. Here's some information about the STOP technique which is taken from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) which is something I went through myself and it really helped me. Maybe it's something you could try?
