Back to work?!
So the new Labour government has decided that the DWP focus should be on work rather than sanctions. My question is how can you get people back to work if these people cannot work?

I don't think you can force people who can't work to work because employers won't employ them. Faced with choosing between someone who can do a job and someone who can't, whom would you pick?

Sure this is true but will they say we hired extra staff to help coax and support people back into work whilst tightening criteria yes it's all guessing games ATM I'm seriously not losing sleep anymore but I am wondering of this is why labour changing 0 hour contract and workers rights from day one of employment so would be harder for companies to dismiss employees

I think also the harder the law makes it to sack someone, the less willing companies will be to take on someone they might need to sack.

I'm less worried about being forced to work than I am about them reducing benefits for those of us acknowledged asunable to work.
There still seems to be no understanding that many people in the LCW group (after 2017) are finding it impossible to meet even the most basic living costs. The Tory proposals that so far as we know still stand as Labour have not said a word about them, to restrict the LCWRA payment to those receiving PIP while at the same time removing PIP from a whole host of people will turf millions of people unable to work in the long term or life, onto the lowest amount of UC. This is not enough to live on short term but is devastating long term, when you can't afford food how will you ever afford shoes or clothes, council tax or bedroom tax etc? Then of course you have sanctions...
I won't rest until Labour gets real about how these proposals (and those already consigned to poverty on UC LCW) are causing immense suffering.

I could be wrong but I think she said she wants to get the workforce up to 80%, and this will mean getting 2 million people back into work.
She dosen't seem to mention disabled people though who can't work.
Perhaps she'll be more clearer soon.

that’s ok, Catherine! I also have sceptical mind, my therapist thinks it’s because I don’t trust my future self to handle it. For example in early 2010s when I was being moved from incapacity benefits to employment and support allowance I was refused and I had to go through the courts to get ESA. So I have survived the worst case scenario and if the worst case scenario presents itself again, I’ll be okay okay as well I will fight for myself!

It's like trauma everytime if I don't know what the outcome of things will be I go to worst case scenario I forget what my mind thinks at that point will affect others so lesson learnt for me because when my anxiety high high I would be triggered by that comment also

Catherine, can I suggest you speak to your GP so you can be referred to a psychiatrist? For the longest time I thought I can intellectualise my anxiety because I thought I’m smart enough to reason with it and like you said I take the problem to the worst case scenario because that’s the stoic approach and it will give me a head start, but that’s actually the worst thing you can do for your mental health. I really do wish you the best because I have been where you are and it’s dark.

I think the green paper will go no further. All of the proposed changes are a pipe dream and they would take away disabled people's independence, rather than promote it.
I think benefits need to be reformed, but to be kinder towards people who need support, rather than make people jump through hoops to get it.

Oh thankyou I'm doing one to one sessions how to manage my emotions the trouble is they start talking I go to another planet I don't absorb any information so had long term therapy didn't absorb so it's so hard for me but yes my doctor amazing but even he said he can only do so much

Any reform is to reduce costs for people with disabilities. Is this necessary for disabled people?
