Carers allowance stopped?

I received carers allowance for a couple of years (for my daughter who is entitled to DLA) but then in January is suddenly stopped/ paused while they checked my income from self employment. I filled in the forms and sent back straight away - my income is far below the threshold so it should have been straight forward - but nearly 8 months later and it hasn’t restarted yet. I’ve phoned lots of times and each time just told a decision hasn’t been reached yet (?) even though I’ve said it’s causing me financial hardship and asked to speak to a manager - no one ever rings back. Anything I can do?!

Contact your local mp as that situation is totally unfair. Hopefully that will shift the outcome along quicker.

Good morning @robynj. It's shocking it's taken them 8 months and you're still left waiting.

Have you raised a formal complaint with them?

Failing that I agree with @Noidea19 about contacting your MP @robynj, a lot of members report a successful outcome once their MP gets involved. Please let us know how you get on and I hope it is resolved soon.
